Endodontics is the field of dentistry concerned with the pulp (nerve and blood vessel tissue) inside the tooth and the root canals.
Procedures
- Root canal treatment: Inflamed or infected pulp tissue is removed, and the canals are shaped and filled. The aim is to keep the tooth in the mouth.
- Root canal retreatment: Carried out on teeth where problems have developed after previous root canal treatment.
- Internal bleaching: Can be used on teeth that have discoloured after root canal treatment.
Depending on the condition of the tooth, a filling or crown may be needed after treatment.
